Lumen Field is home to both the Seattle Seahawks (NFL) and Seattle Sounders FC (MLS) — and on game days it brings some of the most reliable northbound I-5 congestion Federal Way residents ever encounter. The 68,740-seat stadium sits in Seattle's SODO neighborhood, and the post-game I-5 on-ramp at Seneca Street regularly backs up for 30 to 45 minutes after the final whistle. Bus and charter vehicle drop-off at Lumen Field uses the commercial vehicle zones on Occidental Avenue S, south of the main gate plaza.
The Lumen Field parking structure is not suitable for full-size charter buses — bus parking for large vehicles is directed to surface lots on 1st Avenue S with pre-purchased oversized permits. For Federal Way fan groups making the 30-mile run north, one charter bus or party bus replaces the caravan of cars and the per-car parking cost.
